Sixteen Walks along the Birmingham Canal Navigations

Mobirise

The Birmingham Canal Navigations are the longest and most complex system of canals in the world. From the 1770s when the original Birmingham Canal was constructed to bring coal from the Black Country, the network developed to encompass 160 miles of canals of which there's about one hundred miles remaining. These walks will take you along the canals that are still navigable plus some that have been abandoned, through a landscape that is both predictably industrialized and surprisingly rural.
